I am really sorry for this inconvenience to you all, but letting you know now gives you all time to makealternative arrangements forchildcare should you need to do so.

I will keep you updated on the situation

  • Parent Governor Elections

Mon 26 Apr 2021 Scott Beighton

    Dear Parent / Carer,

I hope to find you and your families well.

There are currently 2 vacancies on the governing body for parent governors. To fulfil this role, the only qualification you need is to be a parent/carer of a current pupil within Ripley St John’s.

Governors play a key role within the strategic direction of the school and as a result we work closely with each other within a multi discipline team from within the community that not only challenges the school but also supports it on our never ending journey to ensure the education of the children of our community.

If you would like to put your name forward for one of these posts, please read through the guidance document (available here) to ensure that you meet all the criteria required by the Department for Education.

Once this document has been read please complete the declaration of eligibility including the personal statement (available here as a word document or here as a PDF)) (maximum of 100 words) as this will be utilised in the event of an election being required. On completion the forms should be returned via email to sbeighton@st-johns.derbyshire.sch.uk or in a sealed envelope marked “Confidential” to the school office via your child for paper entries. All nominations are to be received by FRIDAY 7th MAY 2021 at 12.00 Noon, any nominations after this time will not be entered.

In the event of there being more nominations than positions an election will be required, this will be arranged and voting details (including names and personal statements) will be released within 5 working days of the closing date.

If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me via email sbeighton@st-johns.derbyshire.sch.uk  or through the school office.

    Kind regards

    Scott Beighton

  • Summer Term Dinner Menu out now

Wed 24 Mar 2021 Mr Senior
  • COVID winter grants

Tue 15 Dec 2020 Derbyshire County Council

If you are a family on a low income you could get food vouchers for your children over the Christmas period.

The money to pay for these vouchers has come from the government through its COVID-19 winter grant scheme which is over and above the other support schemes already provided by Derbyshire County Council.

The family of every child who gets free school meals in Derbyshire schools because of low income can get a £30 food voucher for the Christmas holidays. You will get another voucher in February if you are still eligible, the amount will depend on the number of children who qualify at that time. Some other families are also eligible based on financial hardship.

You will receive vouchers if you meet one of the following criteria:

    • Have a child aged 3 to 18 in a Derbyshire school (nursery to year 13), eligible for free school meals because of low household income.

    • Have a child aged 3 or 4 not in a Derbyshire school nursery that receives free childcare and qualifies for 'pupil premium' based on low income (this is sometimes called 'economic funding').

    • Have a child aged 2 that is eligible for free 2-year-old childcare because of low household income.

You do not need to do anything if your child already meets these criteria (see our website for full terms and conditions). We will contact you and you should receive a payment by email or text message that should arrive by 21 December 2020.

If you have children and you do not currently claim free school meals or means-tested free childcare you may still be eligible. For full details of the scheme or to see what help and support is available, please visit www.derbyshire.gov.uk/winter

  • COVID-19 Update

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Rose

Good evening.  I am sure you will have heard the announcement by the Prime Minister that all schools in the UK will shut on Friday 20th March 2020.  I can therefore confirm that St John's will sadly close it's doors to most pupils at 3.15pm on Friday for the foreseeable future..

There are a few exceptions at this initial closure stage including "Key Workers", children with an EHCP and those with a social worker.  I am awaiting a full definition of "Key worker", which I will release as soon as possible, however if you are a frontline NHS or police worker or a delivery driver, please can you email proof of this employment to enquiries@st-johns.derbyshire.sch.uk by 11am tomorrow so that we can begin to put detailed plans in place.

We will contact our vulnerable families including those with EHCPs and social workers directly tomorrow.

I will send a detailed plan of the arrangements tomorrow so everyone is fully informed.

I know many of you are going to find this decision difficult and I am truly sorry that it has come to this, however we must follow the government guidance provided.

Can I take the opportunity to thank you for your support so far at this very difficult and unusual time. We will do our best to continue learning for your children via our website and dojo as long as possible.  Please be patient with us as we finalise our plans and keep your eye on Dojo as news will be released to you as quickly as we can.

Please stay safe and look after yourselves.
