Nursery Learning pack
Below are some super ideas for activities you can do at home.
Twinkl also have home learning packs which can be downloaded for free:
When the children are in Nursery their learning is play based and we plan in the moment; this means that we follow the child's lead and interest with their learning, allowing time for them to explore and discover. Do remember that while you are playing with your child, they are going to be learning lots from you! There are lots of fun things that you can do with your child at home; den making, baking, painting, gardening, drawing, water play- plastic storage boxes make great water trays!
The children have daily story time at school and the following link has free ebooks which can be accessed at home: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/
We spend lots of time talking about the characters and main events in the story and wondering what the ending might be. A story will be uploaded onto Class Dojo on a Monday and Friday read by Mrs Bhogal and Miss Dawes.
We have daily physical activities in Nursery and the children love following dances and action songs which can be found on https://www.gonoodle.com/
There are also daily PE sessions provided by Joe Wicks on his Youtube channel which go live at 9am. Find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6r99N3kXME
If you have any play dough at home or fancy making any, dough disco is a great activity for your child to strengthen their hand and finger muscles which will help them in their writing.
Here is a great video to follow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K-CQrjI0uY
We encourage the children to give meaning to any paintings and drawings they do E.g. Saying they have drawn a house and their family, and have made marks which say "I love my brother." We encourage the children to try and copy the letters in their name from their name card and they can do this by copying your writing of their name.
Maths can link in to almost everything we do! Talk to your child about what numbers they might press on the TV remote, counting steps up the stairs, counting their teddies and sorting them by size or colour. Talk about the shapes you might need for junk modelling, E.g. the car needs circle wheels! You could do a number or shape hunt if you go out for a walk.
It is so important to have fun during your home learning- make sure you spend lots of time in the garden enjoying the sunny days and noticing all the little things around us; the birds singing, the flowers growing and the seasons changing. Lots of play and fun are the most important things!
If you have any questions at all please contact Mrs Torr or Mrs Bhogal on Class Dojo :)
