At St John’s, we believe that we will prepare children for the future and raise standards across the curriculum by stimulating children’s imaginations, developing empathy and providing opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving. This includes promoting British Values. The values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs are promoted through the delivery of our curriculum, specific sessions and assemblies to develop children’s social and emotional understanding.
Buddy systems where by children themselves do a great job of encouraging positive friendships and play. We also have an established School Council, giving all children opportunities to have a voice.
Mr Barton leads our PSHCE curriculum with support from the pastoral team.

The Dfe have highlighted the need to ‘create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These principles are promoted at St John's CE Primary School by giving our pupils a sense of belonging both in school, the wider community and the country in which they live. We believe that our pupils should acquire knowledge of both the past and the present which informs them of how British values have been shaped. We ensure our pupils gain a sense of enjoyment and curiosity in learning about themselves, others and the world around them.
