You can do it!

Be the best that you can be!

All that we do at St. John’s focuses on a particular narrative from Matthew 7 v 12,

“Treat others as you want to be treated”.

We champion each and every child and believe that they can, and will, achieve, learn and grow. Our caring Christian environment provides the conditions to really get to know each child, to recognise and build on these, allowing our teachers to continuously find new and innovative ways to bring out the best in them.

Our caring, Christian environment is built on strong Christian values:

Generosity

Compassion

Courage

Forgiveness

Friendship

Respect

Thankfulness

Trust

Perseverance

Justice

Service

Truthfulness

Recognising our original foundation, Ripley St John’s aims to develop our Christian character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with Derby Diocese.

We aim to serve our community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promote Christian values through the experience we offer. We work, in partnership, with children, parents, the Church and the wider community, to enable spiritual, moral, social, and academic growth. Working together in this way we strive to raise aspirations, embed principles of good behaviour and maintain strong outcomes for all children.

As a school we also aim to offer a spiritual dimension to the young lives of our learners.

We value everyone in our community as individuals and God’s children. We share our Christian values and we live them each day. We strive to create relationships in which  Christian love is apparent to and felt by all. This makes Ripley St John’s a safe and secure place to belong. Our school is a place where there is a welcome for all, a place where wonderful things happen.

The very fabric of our school is interwoven with our ethos, our vision and our Christian values and we spend our time living, laughing and learning together.

“Treat others the way YOU want to be treated” Matthew 7 v 12 - the golden rule by which we all live!

Our Christian Ethos

Ripley St. John’s is a Church of England School and as such the school has a Christian ethos at its heart. Worship is an integral part of day, where the whole school come together as one to share, communicate, grow, and celebrate. Our Worship Team take the lead each time we gather and they help to set the tone for the day.

Christian values permeate the school's work and are integral to everything. RE teaching is broad and balanced encompassing all world religions. This includes asking speakers to come in to school to share their beliefs from other cultures. We encourage our children to become deep thinkers.

We would like our children to continue their reflection and experience at home. Please look at our home school value sheet, this will give you lots of ideas of activities you can do at home.

Aims and Values

At St John's we aim to provide a safe, caring, loving environment that promotes core Christian and British values in our children, preparing them for their next school and for later life. We aim to equip them with the self-esteem, confidence, respect, resilience and tolerance to be responsible and become all round good citizens.

Please look at the document below to share the aims and values of St John's.  We developed these aims and values as a whole school community and we believe they encompass everything that children need to help prepare them for their future and life in modern Britain.
